Great gift for your friend who is 'woke' especially after watching 'Dear White People' on Netflix.
This is Samantha White (played by Logan Browning) who is refusing to let people at (fictional) Winchester University get away with taking advantage of their privilege without at least hearing on her radio show about it.
Sam is tough, she is kind, she is opinionated and she refuses to be censored. Pretty much, she is unintentionally my hero. Also, Logan Browning is pretty cool too. She uses her platform to bring voice to issues that she sees and knows about, and she is endlessly positive. And she backs up all of her stuff by action too. She gives me hope.
So yeah, when I was watching "Dear White People" season 2, I had to draw her.
"Sam White" Printed at high resolution, with archival pigment ink on acid-free paper, at 5"x7" or 127 mm by 177.8 mm. (For easy framing, slip into a 5x7 photo frame.
I'm particularly proud of her hair and skin. I'm proud of this painting. It was done with 5 colors. Quinacridone Red, Cadium Yellow, Cadium Orange and Indigo. That's it.
Her skin and hair is only Cadium Orange and Indigo which mixes a large range from blues, to neutral/ purple gray to beautiful browns. It is one of the most useful mixes ever.
